Ivan Stoilković is a politician and a law graduate with several decades of experience in the legislative and executive branches of government. He was born on 15 February 1962 in Kumanovo, North Macedonia.
He completed his primary and secondary education in Kumanovo and graduated from the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus” at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, earning a degree in law.
He began his professional career in 1986 as President of the Youth Council in Kumanovo, a position he held until 1990. In 1992, he established a private construction company, which he successfully managed until 2002
From 2002 to 2024, he served as a Member of Parliament in the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia. During his parliamentary mandates, he actively participated in the work of several parliamentary committees and bodies, including the Constitutional Committee, the Legislative and Legal Committee, the Committee on Transport, Digital Transformation, Environment and Spatial Planning, the Committee on European Affairs, the Committee on Defence and Security, as well as the Joint Parliamentary Committee between the Republic of North Macedonia and the European Union.
From 2024 to 2026, he served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia and Minister of Inter-Community Relations. Since July 2026, he has held the position of Minister of Local Self-Government.
Since 2001, he has been President of the Democratic Party of Serbs in Macedonia. Throughout his long political career, he has been committed to promoting the rights of communities, strengthening interethnic cooperation, and preserving the cultural identity of the Serbian community in the Republic of North Macedonia. His contributions to the Serbian community include initiatives to commemorate Saint Sava Day, the erection of monuments and memorial plaques, and the promotion of Serbian culture and traditions in North Macedonia.
In 2005, he successfully completed a USAID programme in Washington, D.C., United States of America, focused on strategic communications. In 2006, he completed an advanced security studies programme at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Germany.
In recognition of his contributions to public and social life, he has received several awards and distinctions, including the Golden Badge awarded by the Cultural and Educational Community of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the Cross of Voivode Đorđe Stratimirović, awarded by the Šajkaška Development Centre.
He speaks Macedonian and Serbian fluently and has a working knowledge of English.
